Revealing footage from a security camera captured the brutal assault against youths in Kifissia. The incident is linked to an organised network of minors operating in drug trafficking.
Members of the criminal group attacked the youths over debts owed to the network. The violent behaviour formed part of the intimidation tactics used by the perpetrators to control their customers.
The first criminal group operated in areas of the northern suburbs, such as Ekali, Drosia, Dionysus and Nea Erythraia. The organisation had a clear hierarchical structure with a leader, two deputy leaders and operational members carrying out specialised duties.
A second organisation was active in the Thrakomacedones area. Both groups had developed an extensive drug distribution network in schools and playgrounds, targeting underage users.
Authorities identified revealing conversations between members of the gangs. These showed that the perpetrators proceeded to physically punish minors whom they attempted to recruit. The beatings constituted a method of intimidation and enforcement.
Police have proceeded with arrests and have filed cases against members of the networks. The preliminary investigation work continues for the full clarification of the criminal activities.
