In a provincial residence, in complete silence, fell the bullets and knives that left behind two bodies — a woman of 54 years and her son, aged 26. Police officers from Aigion Security repeatedly return to the crime scene, searching to shed light on a case that remains unclear.
The results from laboratory examinations have caused sensation. On the clothes of the 40-year-old Italian being held, no traces of gunpowder were detected. Furthermore, on the fingernails of the two victims, no genetic material matching the foreign national was found. Nor were any blood stains detected on his underwear.
These data, according to experts, could either strengthen the theory concerning contamination of the scene by the suspect himself or question exactly how events unfolded.
The defence of the detainee maintains that the new data reinforce claims of his client's innocence.
Investigators continue to comb through the surroundings of the residence, recording every possible route. An informal exit via wire fencing, which leads to a neighbouring bakery owned by a relative of one of the two dead women, has come under scrutiny. The authorities are investigating whether critical evidence might be concealed there.
In parallel, analysts from ELAS are carefully examining material from surveillance cameras of a neighbouring property, hoping to identify details that may have been missed in previous checks.
The residence remains sealed by court order, whilst the puzzle of the double homicide remains unsolved.
