The 65-year-old Italian accused of the double murder of his 54-year-old partner and her 26-year-old son in Longo Aigio continues to claim that he is innocent and that he did not change anything in the house after the crime.
Authorities are awaiting with particular interest the results from forensic laboratories. The examinations will show whether genetic material from the suspect will be found on both the knife and the weapon used in the murders. Additionally, a gunpowder residue test has been carried out on the 65-year-old. Another critical question that is expected to be answered is whether the stains found on his shirt and underwear belong to the blood of the two victims.
On Thursday morning, police carried out fresh searches at the house where the double murder took place. The suspect remains devastated according to his solicitor, Vasilis Noulez, who told newsit.gr that his client had a peaceful and harmonious relationship with his partner and her son. According to him, the 65-year-old maintained that on that evening he was sleeping in another room, did not perceive anything unusual and heard no noise. When he realised what had happened, he called a friend and neighbour, who hurried over and they informed the police.
The solicitor added that the suspect does not speak Greek well and for that reason preferred to call his neighbour first for help. The 65-year-old also claims that his partner had mental health issues and had visited a psychiatrist, whilst prescribed medication had been administered to her.
