Imathia: Gang of six foreign nationals behind 13 thefts – Damage exceeding €34,000
An investigation by Veria Police has uncovered an organised burglary ring. The perpetrators would climb onto balconies and enter homes in Imathia, stealing cash, jewellery and vehicles.

During the period March–May 2026, unknown individuals burgled numerous homes in Imathia. Veria Police launched an investigation and now know who was behind the attacks.
According to ertnews.gr, police officers identified six foreign men. These men had formed a gang with the purpose of stealing from homes. Each member had a different role within the gang.
The ring operated in a specific manner. Members would climb onto apartment balconies. They would break balcony doors or windows and enter. From the homes they would take money, jewellery and other valuables.
To date, 13 criminal offences have been solved. Eleven of these were residential burglaries. Of these, six were attempts that were not completed. The remaining cases were successful. From the homes that were entered, they took €6,400 in cash. They also stole jewellery and other items worth more than €28,000.
In two instances the perpetrators found car keys inside the homes. They took the keys and stole the vehicles. The two cars were later found and returned to their owners.
Three of the six men had previously come to the attention of the authorities. A file had been formed against them in Polygyros for armed robbery and burglary. One of these three men was arrested on 14 June 2026.
Police are continuing to investigate whether the same group committed other thefts in the area. The file will be sent to the Public Prosecutor of the District Court of Veria.
