According to the Newspaper of Editors, the findings of the forensic examination into the femicide in Drama reveal that the 45-year-old woman sustained seven stab wounds from a sharp object measuring more than ten centimetres in length. The fatal blow caused a puncture to the heart, whilst the remaining injuries were found in the lungs and surrounding tissue.
The examination found no wounds suggesting a preceding struggle, a finding that supports the possibility of a sudden attack. No injuries from a metallic object other than the murder weapon were found. Sedative pills were also discovered at the house, and authorities have ordered toxicology tests for both bodies.
A new dimension to the case emerged from the 45-year-old's uncle, speaking to ERT. He stated that the 50-year-old had threatened his niece two weeks before the crime, specifically with a loaded pistol. According to him, the woman did not file a report and left the house to stay with her sister.
The couple's minor child was the one who alerted the police, seeing his mother covered in blood. "Come, my mother is injured," he said in his immediate response. The woman was taken to hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries shortly after. In a second call received by police, the 50-year-old was found dead inside a car — he had taken his own life with his revolver.
